Day 8: Ushuaia – Iguazu & Day 9: Iguazu (Argentinian side)

22 August, 2019 by VeroBello

Day 8: Ushuaia – Iguazu After having breakfast in our hotel, Dante picked us up at 9:45am to take us to the airport (450 ARS +50 ARS tips, 9€, cash). Many of the flights in Argentina must be through Buenos Aires and ours was not the exception. We landed in Baires at 2:55pm and without getting out of the airport, we took the next flight at 7:00pm to go to Iguazu to land at 8:50pm. We have a friend that […]

Day 6: Calafate – Ushuaia & Day 7: Ushuaia

20 August, 2019 by VeroBello

Day 6: Calafate – Ushuaia We had our breakfast in our hotel and requested a taxi to go to the airport. The taxi was 700ARS (13€, cash) plus a good tip because the guy was amazing. He explained us why the famous Argentinian barbecue sauce is called “chimichurri” and it’s because the British use to said: “give me curry” which with time turned to “chimichurri” (a sauce Argentinians put on meat). He also told us that locals used to wear […]

Day 5: Day trip to Torres del Paine from Calafate

19 August, 2019 by VeroBello

I couldn’t stand being so close to Torres del Paine and not going there. So, I book a day tour with Southroad (120 $ that I paid weeks before through paypal), just for myself because we though it was too much for Martin, and it was: It took me 6 hours to get to the first stop because besides that the distance in Argentina-Chile are huge, you have to go through customs in both Argentina and Chile, and since it […]

Day 3: Baires – Calafate & Day 4: Calafate

17 August, 2019 by VeroBello

Day 3: Baires – Calafate It was raining a lot, so it was perfect to go visit Colon theater (booked online for 26 €, toddlers free). I loved it, the story behind it, the floors, the restorations…I heard my grandma (she was Argentinian) talk so much about this theater that I thought I wasn’t going to like it, but it’s beautiful. From there, we walked to the Obelisco and had a coffee at Café Martinez (like a local Starbucks, but […]

Day 1 & 2: Buenos Aires (Baires)

15 August, 2019 by VeroBello

Day 1: From Houston to Baires We arrived early in Buenos Aires (around 10:00am) and Naty’s friend, Cristian, was there to pick us up. He works as an Uber, so we arranged with him before arriving a price (1200 ARS = 22 €, cash) to go from Ezeiza airport to our hotel in downtown. Our hotel (Le Cinque Lusso) wasn’t the best, but the price and location made it worth staying. After checking in, Cristian took us to Puerto Madero […]

2 weeks in Costa Rica

31 May, 2019 by VeroBello

We recently moved to Houston and now that I am in this side of the world, Brazil, Peru and US National Parks are my top priorities, but of course everything depends on prices, and since I found a very good deal to go to Costa Rica, and Francisco loves to surf, we decided to make Costa Rica our first trip from Houston. We went in May (2019), which is low season and it was great because prices were low even […]

Day 14-16 Drake Bay – Dominical – San Jose

30 May, 2019 by VeroBello

From Drake Bay to Dominical On our day 14th, we took the boat early in the morning from the bay to Sierpe town (one hour and 15$), where our car was. After one hour driving we arrived in Tropical Sands hotel in Dominical. Dominical Our hotel also had one cat but the owner was super nice with me, hid the cat while I checked in and gave us a room upstairs where the cat will never go. Also, the hotel […]

Day 12-13 Manuel Antonio Park – Drake Bay

29 May, 2019 by VeroBello

From Manuel Antonio Park to Drake Bay We left Manuel Antonio around 8:30am and in 1.5 hour of a lovely one lane road, with very nice views to palms and sometimes the ocean, we were at Sierpe town, exactly at the Oleaje Sereno Restaurant where you take the boat to go to Drake Bay (15$ per person, one way). We left our car in a parking with some of our bags inside per 6$  per day. The place is very […]

Day 10-11: Montezuma – Manuel Antonio Park

26 May, 2019 by VeroBello

From Montezuma to Manuel Antonio Park It took us 1 hour to go from Montezuma to Paquera to take back the ferry to Puntarenas at 9:00am. The area around the ferry is not so pretty, so even though we were hungry, we waited until getting into the ferry to eat something (Ferry cost: 13020 colones for 2 adults and 1 car). The ferry ride took 1.5 hours and then it took us 2.5 hours to go from Puntarenas to our […]
