This weekend we decided to go to the natural pools in Rascafría, Sierra de Madrid. We were planning on leaving Madrid around 8:00am, but we ended up hitting the road at 10:00am. However, we found a nice parking spot and a little space on the grass to lie down in the sun.
Of course being in the mountains and being river water, the pool water is freezing. It felt like a natural ice bucket challenge.
To get there, we drove from Madrid by car on the A-1 highway to the Rascafría exit (km 69) and took the M-604. From there we follow the road signs.
The most beautiful thing about the trip was that on the way back we crossed part of the mountain to go eat in Segovia. We went to the well-known Mesón de Candido restaurant in Segovia and ate a delicious suckling pig with a few little glases of wines. And of course we ordered the Torrijas for dessert which is spectacular in this place. Definitely a good plan for a summer weekend in Madrid.
