Bella Ispirazione

Day 13: Monument Valley – Page

We didn’t need the alarm to wake up because we left our shades open and just saw the first sunbeam from our bed. It was almost as espectacular as the moonrise last night.

We did then, after having breakfast in the hotel, the 17miles of the Valley Drive around Monument Valley with our car.

According to the indications you need a 4WD to do it, but our SUV wasn’t and it was fine, we even saw a mustang doing it. I guess it will depend also if the road is dry or wet.

To do this drive it took us around 1.5hours, stopping for pictures in some of the points. Before heading to Page we went to the point where Forrest Gump stopped running…I know, a cliche, but I had to do it, I love that movie and also the view from that point is beautiful. I read it gets really crowded to take the picture alone, but at first we were the only ones and then two other couples arrived.

It took us less than 2.5 hours to get to Page, and once in there we went for lunch in Big John’s Texas BBQ so the europeans (my in laws) could taste some of Texas (where we are living now).

We will be two nights in Pages, in the Country Inn and Suites hotel. The hotel is nice, with an inside pool and jacuzzi and breakfast included, we paid 170$ per room per two nights, great deal.
