After my amazing trip to INDIA, my feet were desperate to continue traveling, so I organized the next trip to MALTA with my friend Johan. We went in spring, and although the days were sunny and only a little windy, it was not enough to jump into the sea.

I have visited this island before, in summer, and although the beaches are espectaculars, it is crowded and it could be hard to enjoy some of the historical sites. So, both summer and spring have their up/downsides, maybe it´s a good idea to go in September/October the weather stills good but the island is less crowded. 

It´s also good to rent a car while you are in there since it´s cheap and the best way to move around. We picked it up at the airport.

Where we slept?

Vivaldi Tulip hotel in St. Julians. The hotel was good, clean, with a small pool at the rooftop and another inside. Breakfast was also good, except for the coffee… Being that close to Italy, we were kind of expencting a better coffee in the island.

The bed was a little thin and you may wet the whole bathroom while showering. Anyway I think it was OK for a couple of nights, since all the hotels get busy soon in Malta.

Day 1: 

We started our day early driving to La Valeta, and parking close to Triton Fountain. We passed the City Gate and walked to the Opera Royal House, St. Augustine Church and St Johns CoCathedral. Then we visited the beautiful Upper and Lower Barrakka Gardens, Fort St Elmo and Siege Bell War Memorial.

In the afternoon we went to the Mdina and after an incredible lunch at Fontanella Tea Garden, we visited St. Paul Church and its museum, and the Palazzo Falcon (5€ entry).

Day 2:

Today we decided to go down to the South of the island to visit Hagar Qim and Mnajdra (both temples per 10€), then do the Blue Grotto boat ride (8€), which are totally worth it.

We finished our day at Marsaxlokk village, having a lovely dinner at the Three Sisters restaurant. This fishing village is beautiful to watch the sunset while tasting some Maltese wine.

Where we ate?

• Margo’s pizza (42€ per 2 person: appetizer wine and 2 pizzas). Very good pizza.
• Dinner at the Three Sisters in Marsaxlokk (40€, 2 person, 1 appetizer, 2 main, half wine bottle, water). Excellent place and food.
• Fontanella tea garden (35€ per 2, 2 main, 2 desserts, wine and water). Amazing pizza and desserts. They have a large variety of cakes that come in huge portions and also hot chocolates
